Dealer busted after posting photos of his drugs on Instagram

An accused Bay Area drug dealer was arrested after DEA agents caught him advertising controlled substances on his Instagram. Authorities learned of Marcos Hatch, 20, while investigating another local man suspected of dealing drugs. An undercover Oakland police officer had requested to follow Christian Vanleer on Instagram, and when he was accepted, he started requesting to be friends with the dealer's other followers. Hatch posted 20 pictures advertising prescription painkillers and Xanax, a brand name of the anti-anxiety medication alprazolam.
In April, more than a month before Hatch's arrest, authorities got a warrant to start monitoring his online communications, and found that he was also privately negotiating the sales of more drugs and handguns in his private messages. Hatch was charged with trafficking alprazolam and faces up to five years in prison if he's convicted on the charge. Federal authorities are reportedly also investigating further gun charges.
