Philando Castile shot dead by Jeronimo Yanez - Updated

The police officer who fatally shot Philando Castile during a traffic stop in Minnesota on Wednesday has been named by state investigators as Jeronimo Yanez.
A man died Wednesday night after being shot by police, the aftermath of which was recorded in a video widely shared on Facebook in which the man’s girlfriend says the “police shot him for no apparent reason, no reason at all.”

The incident began when an officer initiated a traffic stop around 9 p.m. Wednesday in Falcon Heights, a St. Paul suburb.

32-year-old Philando Castile died. As word of Castile's death and video spread, scores of people gathered at the scene of the shooting.

"No justice, no sleep," the protesters chanted. Relatives of Castile described him as a hard-working man who had been employed for years as cafeteria supervisor at a Montessori school in St. Paul.
