Grégoire Trudeau - Prime Minister's wife 'can't cope'

“I have three children at home and a husband who is prime minister. I need help. I need a team to help me serve people”
Canadian taxpayers are paying the wages of two nannies hired to care for the children of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau.

Ms. Grégoire Trudeau has an assistant who helps her with her public duties, including co-ordinating her public appearances and going through the correspondence. She also has a cook and several housekeepers. Despite this, she said that she can’t cope with the current demands and requires more resources from taxpayers.
When Sophie Gregoire Trudeau accompanied her husband, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, to Washington, D.C. in March, the one thing she came away with was envy for Michelle Obama’s operation in the White House’s East Wing. The U.S. First Lady has a staff of 22.

Senior Liberals are saying that Trudeau’s wife requires a staff comparable to that of Mila Mulroney, wife of Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, who had three assistants and an office in the Prime Ministers Office. Of course they neglect to say their party was sharply critical of Mila Mulroney’s excesses at the time.
Canada has never officially recognized a First Lady role. We have never elevated the PM (or his wife) to the special status awarded U.S. presidents and their families.

It was said that John Diefenbaker instructed his caucus to address him as Mr. Prime Minister, to which one of his cabinet replied, “John, you can sit on your hands until they're attached to your ass; I’m never calling you Mr. Prime Minister.”

That’s the Canadian way. Gregoire Trudeau hasn’t been elected by Canadians to any official position and has no official duties. She needs to remember that.
